Web Design Concepts.
Unified Website Design.
In this article I am going to talk about the appearance of your web design. How it looks and flows. A webpage should be unified so the site looks complete, seamless and finished. Sometimes you will visit a site and it just doesn’t seem right. It looks choppy or crammed. It just has no flow or unity. Why is this so important for website design? A website that is not put together right will have a higher bounce rate and be less effective. So to have a great performing website you need a natural flowing design.
Web Design Elements.
To have a complete natural flowing website design you will have to consider several web design elements. All these elements should flow together naturally and compliment each other . If done right your website design will be pleasing to the eye. It should be easy to understand and easy to navigate. Lets look at each of these web design components.
Web Design Colors.
Your website colors can be one of the biggest factors of the websites success or failure. You will probably want to use only a few colors and make sure the website colors you choose are pleasing to the eye. The colors should evoke positive emotions. The colors you choose can also communicate to your visitors non verbal messages. You want to make sure you are not sending negative messages on your website. Remember – not too many colors.
Alignment of Web Design Elements.
You really want to make sure your website is properly aligned from top to bottom and left to right. The alignment of your websites features can really impact the visitors experience on your website. If things like text and photos are not aligned properly it can really cause a loss of credibility. Using a grid can help you tremendously when it comes to keeping things aligned.
Repetition of Elements.
Most websites are designed to provoke a specific action. It is wise to keep repeating the most important call to action. Once your visitor has seen the “BUY NOW” button, you want to make sure the color of that “BUY NOW” command stays consistent. You want to repeat this same exact call to action in the same size as well. Your site visitor will see the call to action several times and now be familiar with it. You should give your visitor many chances to perform your action and make it easy for them to do so.
Make sure you use similar fonts, borders, objects and colors through out the site. Make sure you are consistent with your call to action buttons. Keep things aligned and well balanced. Pick a color scheme that says what you want it to say. Combine all these elements to unify your site and create a great web design.
